BioDiscovery, Inc. Announces OEM Supply Agreement with Bio-Rad Laboratories for Worldwide Distribution of Microarray Analysis So
June 29, 2004
BioDiscovery of El Segundo, California, is a leading provider of
software products for bioanalysis and in particular of products for
quantification and statistical evaluation of gene expression results.
Its software systems ImaGene® and GeneSight® are used in hundreds of
premier laboratories worldwide.
As a result of this agreement, BioDiscovery will customize its
popular ImaGene software for image analysis of microarrays, and its
data analysis package GeneSight to Bio-Rad specifications into new
software packages for Bio-Rad microarray products. These products will
be sold and distributed by Bio-Rad in conjunction with their microarray
scanner and arrayer equipment worldwide.
DNA microarrays or biochips are slides onto which a large
number of different DNA probes have been attached and fixed in a
regular pattern. These arrays permit parallel detection of defined
target sequences of DNA. The results are imaged and analyzed using
special scanners. Target groups are customers in academic research as
well as research facilities in biotechnology, the pharmaceutical
industry and clinical diagnostics.
Soheil Shams, Ph.D., President of BioDiscovery said, "Bio-Rad
and BioDiscovery both have a common goal of creating solutions which
effectively harness the power of microarray technology".
BioDiscovery was founded in 1997 in Los Angeles, California,
and is a leader in the development of microarray bioinformatics
software and services. BioDiscovery provides a full line of modular
software employing unique patented methods. BioDiscovery software
offerings span the entire microarray process, including, image
processing, data mining, statistical analysis, and data management.
